Find Your Tribe

Updated: Aug 18, 2024

Creating a supportive network.

Do you have people around you, in business and life, who make you feel safe, understood and supported? If not, it's important that you prioritise these connections. Working for yourself can be very lonely.

Networking is a thing I used to cringe at. Stood awkwardly in a group repeating a dodgey 60 second pitch to strangers I had nothing in common with. I always felt inferior. I went to a couple whilst employed and swore, never again.

But I was doing it all wrong. It wasn't until I started building my own business

that I discovered a different way to 'network'. It became less about finding work and more about finding my tribe. Facebook was primarily where I found these pockets of people gathered together in groups with the same interest, desires, fears, dreams, problems, passions. Time and time again showing collaboration before comptetition. Women helping women, not pulling each other down. They had the same fire in their belly and listened with open ears when I just talked about what lit me up in business. I've joined these inspirational women on face to face meets, training days, coffee dates, net-walking in the peak district, events, drinks, photo shoots. It's been transformational to my own personal and business growth.

Why not have a purge of your facebook groups, social pages and leave any that aren't serving you. Then have a search around and see if you can find new ones that light you up. Home, work, hobbies, passions.

The same can be said for friends & family

Know who you can talk to and when to keep your cards close to your chest. It's ok for family and friends not to share the same enthusiam as you for your business (that's not the same as not being supportive). But don't let anyone dull your sparkle. Seek out your tribe. The people that will light you up and be your cheerleaders. People who you will learn from, that will inspire you, motivate you and most importantly, not judge you.

So are you ready to find your tribe? Hell yeah you are! Go get 'em.
